Mario's Cabernet Sauvignon is a tribute to Mario Trinchero, who came to the Napa Valley with his family in 1948 to realize the American dream. It is sourced from two estate vineyards situated on benchland soil in the heart of Napa Valley. Mario's Vineyard, a 13-acre vineyard surrounding the winery and the Central Park West Vineyard, a 22-acre vineyard with loamy soils and good sun exposure both in St. Helena. 2018 was an outstanding vintage and this Cab was aged 18 months in 70% new French oak barrels.
James Suckling scored this 92 points saying "Notes of ripe blackberries and plums with hints of licorice, chocolate, crushed rocks and bay leaf. Full-bodied with layers of firm tannins and a velvety texture. An array of ripe dark fruit and crushed stones on the palate. Lightly chewy."
Wine Spectator scored this 92 points saying "A lush and polished style, with boysenberry and fig compote flavors that are seductive, while alder, bay leaf and anise notes dapple through on the finish. This has a toasty frame, but it’s not overdone.“
