Vina Mayor 2014 Crianza, Ribera Del Duero

Located in the so-called "Golden Mile" of Ribera Del Duero, home to such iconic wineries as Vega Sicilia, Dominio de Pingus, Bodegas Aalto, Emilio Moro, Hacienda Monasterio, Emilio Mauro, Pesquera and others, Bodegas Viña Mayor brings together the Ribera del Duero's great strengths. It's a winery with an innovative spirit and a profound respect for the environment. The viticulture is deeply rooted in tradition, maximizing the expression of the land and the beautiful vineyards that surround the winery. For this Crianza 100% Tempranillo grapes, hand-harvested, are gently de-stemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with 18 days of post-fermentation maceration. The wine then aged in barrels of mainly French oak, with a small percentage of high quality American oak, medium toast for 12 months. Deignated a "Great Value in the Ultimate Wine Competition. They scored it 92 points saying "Dark, brooding flavors of espresso bean, black cherry compote, anise seed, and baker's chocolate combine for this wine's exhilarating nose. The palate continues with earthy tones and big indulgent notes of spiced plum and toasted oak." and this exceptional value wine won a Platinum Award, 94 points in the 2018 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition. They said "This wine shows exceptional concentration and palate weight for a Crianza. With aromas of blackberry and dark cherry and a generous dose of wood spice, it offers excellent complexity for the price.
