The Domaine Henri Montagny is a 3rd-generation family wine-growong estate in Volnay in a located in a beautiful fully-restored property in the heart of Volnay. The wines are raised in the vaulted cellar of the domain dating from the 18th century. In the greatest Burgundy tradition, know-how is handed down from father to son for the production of high quality wines, while respecting their terroir.
They own 18.5 acres of vines in Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Beaune. Their holdings in Volnay where this wine was sourced are in three differet "lieut-dits"; Grands Champs, Combes and Grands Poisots. These parcels enjoy Jurassic soils with expositions to the rising sun and the south so Pinot Noir ripens beautifully especially in an excellent vintage like 2015 that Parker rated 96 points overall. Grapes are all hand harvested and fermented in traditional casks. Aging is in neutral oak barrels.
The wine shows a deep and brilliant ruby red color and a fresh nose of red berries, strawberry and earth. On the palate it's elegant with bright acidity and flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, cola and cocoa. Fine tannins coat the mouth and offer a lush mouthfeel while finish is long and berry laden. This wine is a tremendous value, something that's very hard find in Burgundy. Limited!
