About Xanthos 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley
Have you heard of the To Kalon Vineyard? Screaming Eagle? Opus One? Plumpjack? All located in Oakville. Cabernets from Oakville are the cream of the crop. That's why we're so excited and consider ourselves extremely privileged, because we just got in the latest killer Cab from Trevor Sheehan and his Precision Wine Company. This outstanding Oakville Cab was sourced from the single vineyard Narsai David Vineyard in the heart of Oakville (neighbor to Silver Oak). The vineyard was planted in 1992 and now has beautifully healthy mature vines.
Blended with the Cabernet is 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot and the wine aged in a mix of French and American oak once used and 25% new American oak.
As you'd expect this wine is opulent with layers of blackberry, bing cherry and black currants that unfold with complex nuances of violet and mocha. Ripe, polished tannins provide firm structure and a rich texture for the mouth-filling flavors. Approachable now but with the depth and concentration to age beautifully
