Delightful Barossa Shiraz
  • 93 Points
  • From arguably Australia's most famous wine region.
  • "fleshy and packed with fruit flavor"
Yalumba is located in Barossa, arguably the most famous Australian wine region. The Barossa includes both Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, making it one of the only areas in Australia to have neighboring warm and cool climate growing conditions, the Barossa is most well-known for Shiraz.

Grapes for this wine are sourced entirely from Barossa vineyards where the vines range from young (approximately 10 - 12 years old) to old (greater than 35 years). They are planted in a diverse range of sites and soils, including red brown earths, sandy loams and dark clay soils. These variations contribute to the great diversity of flavors.

100% Shiraz, aged for 12 months in 26% new French, American and Hungarian hogsheads, barriques and octaves. Balance in older octaves, hogsheads and barriques.

Decanter Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Silky and inviting, with layers of perfumed blackberry and smoky dark fruit, while the palate is laced with peppery spice."

James Suckling scored this 90 points saying "Attractive aromas and flavors of fresh red plums and raspberries here. Medium-bodied, really fleshy and packed with fruit flavor. Drink now. Screw cap."
