Known for his band and his music, Zac Brown is a creative spirit who has a passion for bringing music, food, and people together. The next logical step for him was to make wine. For this, his Uncaged series he teamed up with the resources of Delicato Family Wines and Napa Valley Winemaker John Killebrew, who grew up in California, developed a love for nature, gardening, cooking, and music at an early age. As a winemaker, John is able to stay immersed in nature. Working in partnership with Zac and accessing the Delicato's superb quality grapes he's able to create wines with true character and style that offer a lot for a little. This Pinot Noir was sourced from prime vineyards in three of California's best growing regions for Pinot Noir; Montery, Napa and Sonoma Counties. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were de-stemmed into stainless steel fermenters for a 48-hour cold soak to extract color from the skins and enhance the delicate berry flavors. Following the completion of primary fermentation, the wine was gently pressed and clean racked into a selection of French and American oak barrels. After several months of aging, the final cuvée was blended featuring a selection of the best lots of the vintage . A Double Gold award winner at the 2018 Toast of the Coast Wine Competition, Wine Review Online scored it 90 points saying "The proprietary name of “Uncaged” for this wine is potentially misleading, as it could suggest a wild thing that has gotten loose, when it turns out to be a nicely tame and endearing wine that didn’t belong in a cage in the first place. Aromatic topnotes of toast and smoke show a little charry oak influence, but the fruit notes shine right through the oak on the palate, with red berry and cherry notes that finish with a nice balance between juiciness and some recurring oak accents as the flavors tail off." Chalk it up to yet another Zac Brown smash hit!
