About 7 Deadly Zins 2018 Zinfandel, Lodi

Michael David's Head Winemaker Adam Mettler, who made this Zin was named Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Winemaker of the Year for 2018! The Catholic school upbringing of brothers Michael and David inspired the monikerfor this, their seductive Old Vine Zinfandel from the enviable Lodi Appellation where Zin reigns supreme. The Seven Sins were related to the seven Old Vine Zinfandels blended in the wine; 95% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah aged 12 months in American oak.

This was awarded a "Best Zinfandel" a Platinum Medal and 94 Points in the  points in the Sommelier Challenge Competition. They said "Campy branding aside, this is a solid example of one side of the versatility of Lodi old vines.  Its mix of brambly fruit and toasty oak spice makes for – and I never use this word – a “smooth” wine with the edges rounded, but without smothering the Zin-y character that fans adore.  That’s the reason it’s such a big seller."
