About Arrowood 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Knight's Valley

Arrowood wines showcases Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon at its very best. Founded over three decades ago by Dick Arrowood, it is now under the ownership of the Jackson family with their vast and exceptional vineyard holdings and fine wine making expertise. Knights Valley is one of the most remote AVAs in Sonoma County, bordering Napa Valley to the east and Alexander Valley to the northwest. Protected from ocean influences, this region experiences a moderated climate, offering a longer and later growing season, which develops more dark fruit aromatics. Very fine textured soils allow for great drainage even at lower elevations, producing small berries that deliver powerful tannins and densely structured wines. Grapes for this wine were sourced entirely from the Knights Cross Vineyard in Knights Valley. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 8% Malbec, the wine was fermented in stainless steel, and aged for 24 months in 80% French oak (20% new) and 20% American oak (4% new). Antonio Galloni on Vinous scored this 91 and said "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Knights Valley), all Knights Valley fruit in this vintage, is superb. Raspberry jam, spice, scorched earth, rose petal, cloves and new leather are some of the signatures. Knights Valley is often noted for Graves-like sense of gravel-infused minerality, naturally allied to a California expression of fruit. That is exactly what readers will find in the 2013." and Anthony Dias Blue in Tasting Panel Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Dark and dense, smooth and rich; deep, intense and luscious; ripe blackberry and cherry; notes of licorice, toasted oak and spice; lovely texture and length.
