Damilano Wine Company is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo with historic traditions. The Damilano family business dates back to 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno, the great grandfather of the winery's current owners, began to vinify his own estate wines. It is with great passion that Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-law, developed with his children a love for the vineyards, selecting and maintaining them with great care in order to improve the quality of the wines. Over time, the winery's production was transformed into a jewel that was passed down with pride in 1997 to Giacomo's grandchildren, who continue to manage the winery today. Barolo Cannubi is the flagship wine of Damilano. Produced from the noble Nebbiolo, this wine benefits from the generous, calcareous-clay soil with a good quantity of sand that is found on the prestigious Cannubi hill. An old vine wine, Barolo Cannubi is crafted from vineyards planted in 1935 with desirable southern exposure. Wine Spectator scored this 93 points saying "Rich and saturated, with cherry and strawberry flavors, gaining support from dense, assertive tannins. Shows plenty of sweetness and accents of anise, tar and underbrush. Presents excellent length and finesse. Best from 2019 through 2033." and James Suckling scored it 95 points and said "A tannic and structured red with dried-strawberry, stone and cedar character. Medium-to full-bodied, chewy and muscular — yet polished and well-formed. Drink or hold. Better in 2020 but so classy now."
