About Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Campo Alle Comete, Toscana IGT

Campo Alle Comete is the property owned by Feudi di San Gregorio located in Italy's "Gold Coast", Bolgheri. This is the region where the unique combination of soil and microclimate is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The cool winds from the sea and the moderate temperatures in August and September contribute to a slow and regular maturation of the grapes for ideal balance and complexity. The vineyard has mature vines up to 25 years of age and a perfect Sout-Southwest exposure. The grapes are fermented in stainless stell and macerated on the skins for 18 days. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is then aged in a combination of French oak barrels and  stainless steel vats for 8 months. The Wine Spectator said "Tasted as an unfinished wine, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (with 10% Merlot) opens to a dark and penetrating color and thick consistency. It sees just five months in neutral oak, so the quality and energy of the fruit is on prime display. Cherry and blackberry segue to grilled herb and light spice. The mouthfeel is still a bit tight and unyielding, but this should change with time. Nevertheless, this pretty red wine is intended for easy-drinking pleasure." and James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla aromas as well as red fruit follow through to a medium body, round tannins and a short finish.
