About Castello Monaci 2019 Kreos, Rosato Salento
The Castello Monaci Kreos Rosato comes from the heart of Italy’s rose production region of Apulia. The vineyards of this hot, arid region are made up of dry gravelly soils of limestone and clay forcing the vines deep for nourishment and leading to very low yields and concentrated wines.
This 100% Negroamaro is made in the “saignée method” which removes the juice from the skins after just a enough contact to impart a rich pink color and clean berry flavor.
Wine Enthusiast magazine scored this 90 points and selected it a Top 100 Best Buy of 2020 saying "A slick nose of wet stone, papaya and watermelon starts off this well-balanced rosato. The flavors build on the palate, beginning with a melon tone that leads to crushed strawberry and blood orange. There's a gentle tannic grip and fresh acidity to house all the fruit, with a lick of peppery spice to add depth, while crushed cherry skins linger on the close. ."
