Here's a Bordeaux bargain from the amazing 2010 vintage! Château Cablanc is located in the Entredeux-Mers region, on the left bank of the Dordogne River. This family-owned estate was acquired in 1949 by Jean Debart and his son Jean-Lou took over the estate. He is a passionate vine-grower and today the property has more than 140 acres of vines in Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur with mature vines averaging 20 years of age. The Chalky-clay soil is ideal for Merlot (55%) Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
In the outstanding 2010 vintage the grapes ripened to perfection with Merlot leading the way. This wine is their Cuvee Prestige selected from their very best lots. It's 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc vinified in tradition cement tanks. The wine was then aged in oak barrels 1/4 new for 12 months. Since then it's been resting peacefully in the Chateau's cellar. Soft and smooth, the palate delivers a complex array of black fruits mixed with oaky tones and earthy undertones that linger on the finish. Best of all this 2010 gem can be had for a song.
