About Corton Grancey, Grand Cru 2012 Domaine Latour
Grand Cru red Burgundy from the Louis Latour estate vineyards. 100% Pinot Noir. This particular wine is only produced in years when the Pinot Noir grapes reach perfect maturity. The wine derives from the following holdings: Les Bressandes, Les Chaumes, Les Pougets, Les Perrires and Les Greves, all of which are planted with vines with an average age of over 40 years. After about 10-12 months of aging, each cask is then meticulously tasted and only the finest ones, showing the best color, bouquet and capacity to age, will be blended to make Chateau Corton-Grancey.

They are best known for their stellar wines from the Grand Cru vineyard of Corton -- both red and white. Their flagship red, Corton Grancey, is a blend of wine made from grapes grown in four Grand Cru plots -- Corton Bressandes, Corton Perrières, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Grèves -- located on the hill of Corton. Always a superb wine, their 2012 Corton Grancey is outstanding. Concentrated and dense without being overblown, it delivers both ripe and savory elements. The polished tannins lend support and a luxurious texture. Very long, it has the requisite balance to develop gracefully over the next two decades."
Tim Atkins MW scored this 94 saying "A little fresher and chalkier than Latour's Les Perrières bottling, this is a refined, elegant Corton rather than a blockbuster. The tannins are particularly well handled here, supported by sweet raspberry and red cherry fruit and tangy acidity. Reasonably priced for a Grand Cru, too. 2018-28."
