About Domaine Moissenet-Bonnard 2020 Meursault, Les Vireuils
Emmanuelle-Sophie officially took over this family-owned estate with the 2014 vintage after working alongside her father for many years and receiving degrees in agronomy, biology, and viticulture. The tiny domain is comprised of 13.2 acres across 20 plots, Their farming is organic non-certified. For the past 15 years, they have used no chemicals in their own vineyards. The large amount of ladybugs and spiders, which are attracted to the geraniums that grow among the vines, help keep down the population of more harmful insects.
For this Meursault 'Les Vireuils' grapes are sourced from a .86 acre plot at the highest point. Soils are shallow crushed chalk. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks, full malolactic fermentation and aging on lees for 1 year in neutral oak barrels before bottling.
The wine shows rich flavors and impeccable balance the minerality is striking along with the succulent pear and apple notes that linger on the finish.
