About Katherine Goldschmidt 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Stonemason Hill, Alexander Valley

The latest release of this very popular Cabernet by Nick Goldschmidt and his middle daughter Katherine continues this close family tradition. Sourced from The Stonemason Hill Vineyard in Alexander Valley, this is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.  This is a very unique vineyard in that the slope is facing north so it get more indirect than direct sunlight. This means it is cooler than most other vineyards in Alexander Valley. The grapes here ripen slowly and continue to hang late in the season bringing good, beautifully balanced acidity and lots of complex nuance.

This 2021 shows all of that complexity and vibrancy. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, hand-picked, aged in 70% French, 20% American, 10% Hungarian oak barrels with a medium toast. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, Vegan.

James Suckling scored this 90 points saying "Coffee candies, black cherries, olives and blackberries. Quite rich and obvious, with a degree of sweetness in the full-bodied palate. Chewy, fine-grained structure. Flattering and easy to understand."
