Founded by vintner and entrepreneur Matthew Bonanno, Matthew Fritz is the companion wines to his Napa Valley flagship, BonAnno Cabernet Sauvignon. Matthew Fritz was founded on a few simple principles; seek out and source from top California coastal vineyards, let the fruit stand on its own through a pure, clean winemaking process, and ultimately, ensure every bottle of Matthew Fritz is a true representation of both the variety and appellation.
Renowned winemaker, Jim Milone, crafts, blends and bottles Matthew Fritz in Healdsburg, Sonoma County. Jim grew up in the vineyards of his grandfather’s winery in Mendocino County and currently lives in Northern Sonoma. His excellent relationships with wineries and growers throughout California are invaluable to our vineyard sourcing.
Grapes for this 2021 Pinot Noir were sourced from premium vineyards within the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey. 2021 was a dry vintage Northern California leading to smaller fruit clusters packed with concentrated flavors.
The wine is a medium ruby with aromas of violets, clove, and fresh dark cherries. The palate elegant, textured and filled with ripe raspberry and cherry flavors with hints of mushroom and black tea.The finish has mouthwatering acidity and medium tannin.
