    About Nickel & Nickel 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, State Ranch, Yountville, Napa Valley

    Gil Nickel who founded Far Niente started Nickel & Nickel to produce extraordinary single vineyard Napa Valley Cabs. Each is a very low production wine from a unique sub-appellation in Napa Valley. This one comes from the State Ranch vineyard in Yountville, made famous by Beringer and now by Kapcsandy Estate. This wine, aged in French oak barrels for 16 months. Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, 51% new. The Wine Advocate scored this 2016 95+ saying "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon State Ranch is deep garnet-purple colored with violets, chocolate box, menthol, cassis, black raspberries, tea and new leather on the nose. Full, firm and grainy, the palate is packed with black fruit layers, finishing long and perfumed."
