This Cab is from the C.C. Ranch in Rutherford, planted along the slope of a knoll west of the Silverado Trail. The vineyard grows classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon on well-drained, gravelly loam soil. The vines are well balanced and the canopy is opened up to give good light exposure. Nickel & Nickel produces wine from 15 select acres of this 115-acre vineyard.
This 2019 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon this wine was aged 18 months in French oak, 48% new.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded this a Cellar Selection and scored it 95 points saying "Bright in cherry and cassis, with dusty crushed rock, dried herb and cedar playing along, this is a well-integrated wine in terms of oak and tannin, refined and structured with tremendous complexity. It will do well to cellar; enjoy best from 2029 through 2034."
Wine Spectator scored this 93 points saying "Ripe and well-built, with a solid core of blackberry, black currant and melted black licorice notes that move in unison, picking up a subtle singed alder hint on the focused finish, with subtle juicy energy running all the way through.
