About Sebastiani 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast
Sebastiani has been producing fine California wines for over 100 years! Bill Foley’s purchase of Sebastiani in 2008, the winemaking team has taken a number of steps to produce world-class wines that showcase the great terroir and versatility of Sonoma County. One of the first things done under Foley’s direction was to decrease production, allowing for focused winemaking efforts on exceptional vineyard sites.
Grapes for this wine are sourced from some of their best North Coast vineyards with approximately half from Sonoma and half from Lake County. This 2019 is comprised of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 10% Malbec. After a two-day cold soak, the grapes were crushed and fermented at relatively warm temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After pressing, each lot was blended or egg-white fined depending on flavor, color and tannin concentration. The wine was aged for 16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels (25% new).
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 92 points saying "Dark fruits and a silky texture combine elegantly in this full-bodied but sleek wine. Ripe black cherries and plump blueberries are lightly accented by mint and cocoa as mild tannins keep it smooth through the finish."
