What a Find!! Alix Cellars currently only produce a reserve tier collection of wines. Small-batch, single-appellation wines, ranging from 150 to 300 cases. This hyper-focused process allows them to pick the best single-vineyard sites that have been known to make incredibly unique Cabernets like this one.
Sourced from one row with rocky soils in a single vineyard on the east side of Oakville, tucked into its sloping hills at 680 feet above sea level. The soils provide good drainage ensuring that roots dig deep for nourishment. The southwestern exposed vineyard lets the vines soak up the warm afternoon sun esuring that the grapes reach optimal ripeness. Only 7 barrels (185 cases) of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon were produced. The wine aged 22 months in 70% new French oak barrels and 30% twice-filled French oak barrels.
It shows layered notes of black cherries, kirsch, spiced cocoa, crushed rocks and tobacco leaping out of the glass. The palate fills with ripe black fruits, crème de cassis and baking spice, wrapped in a lovely textural mid-palate of toasted oak that lingers on the palate. Classic Oakville density and smooth as silk. Best of all, we grabbed the remaining stock and worked a deal to bring it to you at a HUGE discount! Don't Miss It!
