About Barbaresco Riserva 2013 Vigna Boito, Rizzi

Azienda Vitivinicola Rizzi was set up in 1974 by Ernesto Dellapiana on his family’s eighteenth century estate. Over the years the winery’s proprietor has dedicated himself to extending and improving the company and its products in terms of both quantity and quality, making it – with its 90 acres – one of the largest and and unquestionably important wine estates in the Barbaresco-growing area.

This Riserva Barbaresco “Boito” is made from the best grapes of the single Boito block, in the upper part of the Rizzi vineyards. This block has good south, south-west exposure and the soil composition is characterized by white marl clayey- calcareous. It is a deep soil with a clay vein that cuts within the whole hill, and that gives this wine great elegance, tannic structure, inimitable perfumes and great longevity. Fernentation is in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and the wine aged in oak barrels for 24 months.

Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 96 points saying "Full-bodied and focused, this gorgeous wine opens with enticing scents of dark-skinned berry, pipe tobacco, truffle, new leather and a whiff of camphor. Savory and structured, the palate presents succulent red cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and baking spice accompanied by firm fine-grained tannins. It's well balanced, with fresh acidity. Drink 2021–2033."
