About Black Stallion 2016 Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley

Located right on the Silverado Trail, the Black Stallion Estate winery is named in honor of the former Silverado Horsemen's Center that was once located there. The winery is owned by the Delicato family with a history spanning three generations and more than 85 years. The family is very involved with all aspects, producing fine Napa Valley wine from vineyards throughout the valley and crafting high quality wines that are elegant and distinctive yet approachable like this Sauvignon Blanc. Small, premium lots of grapes were sourced from both warmer, upper valley vineyards, and cooler Carneros vineyard blocks, resulting in a balanced blend of ripe, tropical flavors and aromas, vibrant acidity and an elegant structure. 95% Sauvignon Blanc 2.5% Muscat Canelli and 2.5% Semillon were fermented in stainless steel. 5% of the blend was sent to age in neutral French oak barrels for two months while the rest aged on the lees in tank. This 2016 was awarded a Double Gold Medal in the high profile San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "This is a bright fresh white that shows a nice complement of dried herb and lemongrass with juicier, more concentrated flavors of white peach and melon. Elegantly crafted, it has a lushness to the palate that's lengthy and complex."
