Bodega Norton 2017 Privada Red Blend, Mendoza

Originally reserved for the family’s private cellar, this exclusive high-end blend is a result of a request by the Swarovski family to create the best wine to enjoy among their friends. Its grapes come from the winery´s oldest vineyards, between 50 and 90 years old. A truly unique wine, it is a special selection of the best barrels of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which results in a harmonious, complex and elegant blend. Aged 16 months in new French oak barrels.

James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "Enticing roasted spices, peppermint and cocoa powder oozing from the glass, knitting the ripe, lustrous black fruit. Rich and full-bodied, but not jammy. Good density of flavors to chew on with a solid, velvety tannin structure. Lots of verve. Lengthy finish. Serious stuff. A blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot."


Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 92 points saying "A black color backed by smoky aromas of blackberry, cassis, black olive and raw oak open this burly Bordeaux-style blend. Oak-based tannins make for a palate with resin grab, while this is packed with toasty blackberry and herbal flavors. On the finish, this simmers with heat and oak before slipping away."

Wine Spectator scored this 91 points saying "Plush at first, with refined red currant, sour cherry and tar flavors, supported by firm acidity and tannins. Bakers' chocolate notes and hints of freshly ground pepper show on the finish. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot."
