About Brown Estate 2019 Chaos Theory Red, Napa Valley
In 1980 the Brown family purchased an abandoned ranch in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley. They rehabilitated the crumbling homestead and planted viniferous grapes — which for a decade they farmed and sold to local winemakers. In 1995 the younger generation decided to make their own wine. In the meantime, the business has grown slowly but surely as the brand has gained increasingly broad exposure to an extraordinarily diverse audience.
Chaos Theory Red Blend over the years has become a shape-shifter, each vintage its own unique blend. This 2019 blends 35% Merlot, 35% Petite Sirah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Zinfandel. The Merlot comes from the famous Dollar Ranch and the other varietals are all estate grown. The wine aged 12 months in 30% new oak, 50/50 French/American.
This ripe Napa Valley red shows a magenta core and ruby rim with tea rose, exotic spice, kirsch liqueur, cola, cloves, traces of Italian sports car leather on the nose. The palate is juicy, and lush with fine-grained tannins and a smooth, lengthy finish.
