About Brunello di Montalcino 2017 Il Palazzone
The Il Palazzone estate has three separate vineyards in quite different areas of Montalcino. The microclimate and extraordinary variety of terroirs means that they are able, on blending grape from the three vineyards, to have three complementary aspects of Montalcino in their Brunello. A modern and sustainable winemaking facility was built in 2012 allowing state-of-the-art wine production.
Grapes are hand picked and then hand sorted at the winery and fermentation takes place in large oak tanks and then the wine ages in oak for 40 months before bottling.
Wine Enthusiast scored this 93 points saying "Elegantly structured this lovely red has scents recalling camphor, blue flowers, dark spice and coffee bean. Smooth and savory, the linear palate features juicy Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry and star anise set against taut, polished (tannins)."
