About Chateau De Landiras 2019 "Jeanne de Lestonnac" Graves Rouge

95 Points, Under $20 and ONLY HERE!

In 1173, William the Templar, Archbishop of Bordeaux, purchased the lands of Landiras and the fortress previously erected by the Lords of Landiras. In 1306, the Château was rebuilt on the ruins of this fortress. It gave its name to the estate, "Château de Landiras". During the 17th century, The Château was the main house of Sainte Jeanne de Lestonnac, who founded the Compagnie Marie Notre Dame in 1607 and its 400 schools across 27 countries, dedicated to educating women all over the world.

The Cuvée Jeanne de Lestonnac is dedicated to her efforts and is the elixir of Château de Landiras. Produced in the style of a garage wine, from an even more in-depth selection of plots, the wines are produced in an underground cellar, located under the foundations of Maison Jeanne de Montferrand-Lestonnac.

The grapes used here are from selections of the best parcels according to their quality and maturity. Daily pigeage (punch downs) was performed to extract the highest quality tannins and color.
The wine spent over 12 months In French oak barrels of 225 and 400 liters, 12 months imparting a complex range of aromas and to help soften its structure.

Winemaker Notes:

As complex as it is elegant, the bouquet happily marries fruits (blackberry and blackcurrant) and wood (spices) notes. Ample, rich and round without heaviness, the palate is supported by fine and silky tannins and unfolds a long finish full of freshness.

95 Points Decanter

"Aromatically inviting, plump, and rich notes of ripe cherry, bright strawberry, raspberry, plum, damson, and a meaty spice. Energetic wine, intense and structured, with good balanced acidity, and powerful, yet well-integrated ripe tannins. A very fresh long finish with lingering notes of red berries smoked tobacco and toasted wood"
