About Chateau de Belcier 2010 Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux

A rare and exciting find! The Chateau de Belcier is located on the right bank of the Gironde in the Côtes de Castillon, one of the oldest wine regions of Bordeaux. The Estate dates back all the way to the 1780's but today is modern world class property The 128 acres of vines, are planted in the the clay-limestone and silty clay soils. Plantedmainly to Merlot, they also grow Cabernet Franc, Cabernat Sauvignon and Malbec. The vine average a mature 35 years of age.

This wine from the outstanding 2010 vintage really shows what this estate can turn achieve. In the beautiful but dry 2010 vintage the vine roots could reach down deep into the clay soil and drink up the water that these soils retain. This allowed a slow even ripening with fruit that was full mature and rich with flavor.

The blend is 57% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Malbec and the wine was aged 10 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Perhaps best of all world famous oenologist Michel Rolland was at the helm, overseeing the entire process.

James Suckling reviewed this on realse and scored it 92 points saying "Gorgeous wine with dark fruits and a red chili character. Full body, with round tannins and a chocolate, berry and spice aftertaste. Lasts a long time on the palate. Best ever from here. Better in 2017."

The wine has been slowly maturing in the Chateau's cellars and has reached a fine stage of complexity and enjoyment. We don't expect this rare aged Bordeaux to last very long especially at the discounted price we're offering for our Wine Express customers. Don't wait, you don't want to miss it.
