The 2010 vintage was called. "the greatest Bordeaux vintage in modern times" by Decanter Magazine, Wine Spectator calls it "Ripe and powerful" scoring it 99 points and Robert Parker called it a "great vintage" scoring it 98 points. With all that going for it it's no wonder the wines have all but disappeared into wine lovers cellars, that's why when you find one like this it's very exciting almost like striking gold. The family owned Chateau Plantier Rose is among the oldest and most prestigious Cru Bourgeois estates in the St. Estephe commune. Dating back the time of Napolean it has been in the same family for over a century. The 23 acre vineyard is gravel and sand over clay and limestone and the vines average a mature 35 years of age. This 2010 is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. The grapes went through selective sorting and classical vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats with long maceration and slow extraction. Ageing was 18 months in oak barrels.Even now at 7 years after the vintage the win shows attractive garnet color, a beautiful bouquet, between black fruitsvanilla hints, exotic spice, tobacco and minerals.
