92 Point Bordeaux White-blend from historic Chateau Suduirat!
Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the great historic vineyards of Sauternes. A rigorous selection in the vineyard and in the cellars ensures the production of Château Suduiraut's wines, which are the accomplished expression of this exceptional terroir. Certified High Environmental Value (HEV 3), the estate comprises 91 hectares of vines, on gravelly, sandy clay soil. The stones capture the sun's heat, thereby helping the grapes to reach maturity more rapidly. It is this unique terroir that gives the wine its outstanding opulence.
Its superlative elegance comes from a match of total opposites: a voluptuous texture, mineral freshness and the heat of spices. Chateau Suduiraut is designed for all those who enjoy sensory and emotional experiences that are both rich and full of surprises and leave a lasting memory.
The blend is 85% Semillion and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. The color is golden yellow with greenish tints. The nose is crisp, fresh and floral, gradually revealing notes of fresh fruit such as pear and peach. On the palate, all the concentrated flavour of 2013 is present but is underpinned by great liveliness. The crispness of fruit is very much in evidence and the finish is clean, with notes of citrus leading into mineral flavours.
Wine Enthusiast scored this 92 points saying, "The lighter of the two second wines of classed-growth Suduiraut, this is a more accessible reflection of the richness of the grand vin. At four years old, it's still young, its acidity and crisp lemon flavors contrasting its core of botrytis and delicious fruit. Drink this balanced wine from 2020."
Decanter Magazine gave this 90 points saying, "The second wine of this famed estate is a modern Sauternes that aims to appeal to younger drinkers. It still shows the classic apricot, honey and marmalade noble rot flavours, but in a lighter, fresher, less unctuous style, to be served chilled."
