Chateauneuf Du Pape 2006 Private Reserve, Chateau La Nerthe

One of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s oldest estates, archives affirm Château La Nerthe’s existence as early as 1560 and suggest an even more distant past dating to the dawn of the region’s wine culture in the 12th century. An Iconic producer whose wines are considered a benchmark with each vintage released. In special vintages they produce this Private Reserve in small quantity. Vines average 40 years of age, and the blend is mostly Grenache with Mourvedre and Syrah backing it up. The wine aged in samll oak barrels and large oak foudres for 12 months. Extended bottle age has given this  suppleness and a layered complexity that only comes with time. Extremely Limited!
