About Chianti Classico 2015 Terre Di Prenzano, Vignamaggio

Villa Vignamaggio is located just outside the town of Greve, in the heart of the Chianti Classico DOCG, and winemaking here dates back to the 14th century. Of course the estate is most famous for being the home of Mona Lisa, model in the famous portrait by Leonardo da Vinci, born at Vignamaggio in 1479 and the daughter of the owner of the estate at the time, Anton Maria Gherardini. Today the historic wine cellars, located below the villa, are equipped with modern temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and all of the newest winemaking equipment. The vineyards have also be replanted and carefully tended. This wine is from a single estate vineyard. 100% Sangiovese, aged for 9 months in large oak barrels.
Wine Review Online scored this 92 points saying "A beautiful expression of Chianti from the Classico zone, this wine exhibits dark cherry fruit flavors augmented by echoes of dry Tuscan dust and savory spice. Its complexity renders it especially compelling. There is plenty of acidity, making it a good candidate for cellaring as well as current drinking alongside pastas or other dishes featuring tomato-based sauces.".  James Suckling scored it 91 saying "A tangy and bright red with a pretty combination of fruit and firm tannins. Medium body and a firm and focused finish. Shows linear tension. Drink now." and Antonio Galloni scored it 90 points saying "The 2015 Chianti Classico Terre di Prenzano is a very pretty wine. Lifted and perfumed, it shows the more gracious side of the year in its midweight structure and restrained, bright red/bluish hued fruit character. This is very nicely done."
