About Cliff Lede 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Moon Fantasy, Stag's Leap District

Here's an extremely rare treat! Established in 2002, Cliff Lede Vineyards encompasses sixty acres in the famed Stags Leap District. Cliff Lede, Vineyard Architect David Abreu and Winemaker Christopher Tynan have come together to form an unrivaled team. Along with a state-of-the-art gravity flow winery they are making the most of this remarkable property.

This wine is one that's not available anywhere but at the winery and we have it! Grapes for this wine are from their estate vineyard blocks in Stag's Leap District. The name of this blend is derived from Pink Floyd’s "Dark Side of the Moon" in their Twin Peaks vineyard and from Traffic’s "Dear Mr. Fantasy" in their Poetry vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignon in “Dear Mr. Fantasy” is planted in shallow volcanic soil and farmed to low yields, contributing structure, concentration and classic Stags Leap character to the backbone of the blend. “Dark Side of the Moon” is a block of Cabernet that contributes a luxurious perfume, flavors of ripe, dark fruit, and plush texture.

The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc aged 21 months in 78% new French oak barrels. Less than 2,000 cases were made of this plush Cab.

The Wine Advocate scored this 94 points and said "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Fantasy Stags Leap is a deep garnet-purple color with a nose of fragrant black berries and black cherries with floral notes and dried leaves, menthol, bay leaves, cedar and cassis nuances. The wine is big, full, muscular and earthy in the mouth with chewy tannins and a long finish; the oak stands out but should marry.
