Cochon Volant is produced at Chateau Caraguilhes by rising-star young winemaker Etienne Besancenot, who left Paris to become a vigneron at an early age. He certainly found his calling as this delicious, and ORGANIC, wine shows that his ability to craft a juicy and lovable wine while maintaining a sense of terroir that is spot on.
The Corbières Cochon Volant (40% Grenache, 40% Carignan, 20% Syrah) offers bold, effusively fruity notes of raspberries and blackberries, plus hints of garrigue on the nose. It’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, delivering plenty of ripe berry flavors, buttressed by supple tannins and a plush, easygoing mouthfeel and finish. It won’t make old bones in the cellar, but it’s not meant to.
Wine Enthusiast gave it 93 Points and boasted 'Vibrant and bright aromas of pomegranate, raspberry, fresh herbs and purple flowers all showcase the elegance of this bottling. The palate offers juicy red cherry and raspberry supported by fine tannins, with a perfect pop of acidity on the long finish.'
