Here's the latest release of the Wagner Family's Conundrum Red. It was 26 years ago that Caymus first launched Conundrum White which has fostered a whole new category of white wine as the entire industry jumped on the bandwagon. To hear Chuck Wagner Jr. tell it, his father would pour one wine into another at the dinner table making his own blend. This idea is what inspired him to create Conundrum white which has been wowing wine drinkers ever since with its beguiling and exotic flavors and its mystery blend. This Anniversary Red is also a mystery recipe but we know that it has a good dose of Petite Sirah and Zinfandel, two varietals that excel in Napa Valley that don't make it into any of the other Caymus wines. This wine shows a distinct spiciness along with lush berry fruit, hints of dark chocolate and vanilla bean. The finish lingers with just a hint sweetness that brings out the berry and mocha notes. Another winner.
