About Daisy Ridge 2017 Pinot Noir, Momtazi Vyd., Willamette Valley

An amazing find! Sourced from a single Demeter Certified biodynamic* vineyard block in the Willamette Valley's McMinville AVA. The soils here are distinctive. Situated in the coastal range foothills provide protection from frigid ocean winds while the breezes through the Van Duzer corridor keep the vineyards dry and healthy.

The grapes for this Daisy Ridge Pinot Noir were all individually sorted and destemmed before being moved to stainless-steel tanks for fermentation. All fermentation was done with 100% native yeasts started spontaneously. In order to make sure the tannins were balanced, there were no punch downs but instead a pump over in the morning and a round of pulsair in the afternoon. Fermentation lasted 7-14 days. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel as the wine aged 11 months in just 5% new French oak. It was racked once before bottling and at the time of bottling, total sulfites were under 100 parts per million.

As close as you'll get to a "natural" Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, the flavors are pure and distinctive. A gushing forth of red and black fruits from wild strawberries to black Tartarian cherries with a hint of smoky nuance. The mouthfeel is creamy and vibrant and the finish lingers. It shows the depth and strength to age gracefully if you can resist it long enough to allow it.

We wrangled a limited quantity of this single-vineyard Willamette Pinot Noir and are able to offer it at a very appealing discount so grab it now while you can!

*A UCLA study published in the Journal of Wine Economics in 2016, of wine reviews in the Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and Wine Advocate showed that "“eco-certified” wines scored significantly higher (an average of 4.1 points higher) than other wines and that reviews used more positive words about them."
