Damilano Wine Company is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo with historic traditions. The Damilano family business dates back to 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno, the great grandfather of the winery's current owners, began to vinify his own estate wines. It is with great passion that Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-law, developed with his children a love for the vineyards, selecting and maintaining them with great care in order to improve the quality of the wines. Over time, the winery's production was transformed into a jewel that was passed down with pride in 1997 to Giacomo's grandchildren, who continue to manage the winery today.
The Wine Advocate scored this 92 points saying "A blend of fruit from five MGA sites (Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi and Raviole), the 2018 Barolo Lecinquevigne shows that pretty, bright character that we see across this entire portfolio from Damilano. This wine is accessible and up front in its delivery of wild cherry, rose and lilac. This expression from the five vineyards definitely sets itself up for a near-term drinking window lasting a decade or so."
James Suckling scored this 92 points saying "There’s a bright, cedary-spice note pervading the nose and palate of this medium-bodied Barolo, with tight, fine tannins and a focused finish. This needs some time to open up and allow more fruit to rise to the surface."
Wine Spectator scored this 91 points saying "Firmly in the savory camp, this red delivers eucalyptus, juniper, sage and smoky flavors, along with cherry and berry notes. Dense and full of ripe fruit, this ends with freshness and length. Best from 2025."
