Divum is a new wine produced by two brothers who are fourth generation grape growers. They own five estate vineyards in Monterey County and have supplied Pinot Noir grapes over the years to dozens of wineries including Kendall-Jackson, Hess, Talbott and Morgan. The decision to make their own wine seemed like a natural one and they brought an experience winemaker who's worked with Pinot Noir for 30 years throughout the Central Coast and Sonoma, including a debut as winemaker at Calera. For this wine they sourced grapes from the two best blocks in their vineyards. The grapes were destemmed and put into the fermenters uncrushed. They extended the maceration for a full two weeks to extract more layers of flavor and velvety tannins. The wine then got a gentle press and went into 100% French oak barrels for 10 months. It shows Aroma of strawberry, plum, black cherry and violets accented by toast and spice. Rich and supple on the palate with expressive berry and black cherry fruit along with a good mouthwatering acidity. It shows a long silky finish. This is a classy wine that would surely sell for twice the price if it was made by one of the prestigious labels that source these brothers' grapes. Don't miss it!!!
