The Pecchenino wine estate dates back to the end of the 1700's and has always been a family-run operation, with the holding handed down from father to son for generations. The estate holds 60 acres of vines mostly in the Dogliani commune. Lively and lush, the Dolcetto grapes that go into this wine are cultivated on these vineyard sites that have calcareous soils and southern exposure where they reach full maturity. Fermented and aged in stainless steel the bright fruit gets full expression here. Wine Spectator scored this 91 points saying "Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, earth and spice are the hallmarks of this juicy red. Approachable now, with some tannins on the finish. Decant now or cellar short-term. Drink now through 2021."
