In the beautiful Cotes de Gascogne region resides the Domaine de Joy founded in 1927 by Swiss emigres Paul and Marguerite Gessler. In these rolling hills, we find perfectly beautiful terroir for wine grapes as well as grapes for wine distilled into Armagnac. Domaine de Joy produces both, guided by minimally interventionist philosophies in the vines and cellar.
This wine L'EnVie, is a blend of 70% Columbard, 20% Gros Manseng and 10% Ugni Blanc. Each variety is harvested and vinified separately. In selected tanks the grapes macerate on coarse lees for 3 weeks and then all the tanks age on fine lees for 4 months before blending and bottling. It shows deep aromatics and a notably rich texture. Flavors of lychee, grapefruit with fennel linger on the long finish. A great value!
