About Domaine Follin-Arbelet 2017 Corton-Charlemagne, Grand Cru

Located in the heart of the village of Aloxe-Corton, Domaine Follin-Arbelet exploits and vinifies a very fine range of appellations in the town and its surroundings, made up of three red Grands Crus, a white Grand Cru, four red Premiers Crus, and a Village appellation, The wine list is representative of the best terroirs on the Corton hillside.

Although he comes from an old family of Aloxe-Corton, formerly owner of prestigious appellations, Franck Follin-Arbelet is the first descendant to devote himself to viticulture and winemaking. After graduate studies in Geology in Montpellier, he chose to return to Burgundy and make viticulture his profession. It began in 1990 with a first parcel of Aloxe-Corton operated on a rental basis; then follow the Premiers Crus in 1993, then the Grands Crus.

The cellars and the vat room are located in the center of the village of Aloxe-Corton in a magnificent and remarkable setting. The beautiful family property, built in 1764, is of typical Burgundian architecture, with accommodation on the first and second floors, store and vat room on one level, and cellars in the basement. The cellars, certainly the deepest in the village, are particularly cold and humid. A well has also been dug there. These conditions, certainly sometimes a little spartan for tasting, are on the other hand particularly beneficial to the production and aging of great wines.

On the edge of the Bois de Corton, at an altitude of 350m, overlooking the "Bressandes" climate, facing due East, on a land of white marls, this Corton Charlemagne from old vines has all the characteristics of the Great White wines: richness, opulence combined with minerality, energy and dynamism. This balance allows it excellent aging (3-10 years and more)
