About Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun 2020 Hautes Cotes de Nuits White
Hautes Cotes de Nuit is an under-the-radar appellation whose vineyards are high on the slopes above the Premier and Grand Crus of Nuits Saint Georges, Vosne Romanee and others. Nicolas Thevenot is the younger generation at the Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun, an estate that has extensive vineyard holdings in Hautes Cotes de Nuits and as Decanter Magazine noted "He is convinced that the quality levels have never been higher in the Hautes Cotes". For this wine grapes are pressed and the must is settled during 24 hours. The fermentation temperature is monitored and does not go over 20 celsius. During the fermentation 20% of the cuvee goes in barrels for 9 months of ageing in oak. The rest is aged in steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation occurred during the winter and in barrels the lees were stirred periodically. Pinot Blanc, a very aromatic grape, gives pronounced floral and fruity notes to this wine while the Chardonnay brings a touch of finesse.
