About Domaine Vessigaud 2022 Macon-Fuisse 'Le Haute de Fuisse'
Family owned and operated for five generations, Domaine Vessigaud is a small wine estate located in the village of Pouilly in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, in the south of Bourgogne in the Mâconnais.
Cultivated on 5 hectares of Pouilly-Fuissé, 3 hectares of Mâcon-Fuissé, 1 hectare of Mâcon-Charnay and even 1 hectare of Saint-Amour. The quality of the wine is not only determined by its taste, but also by the methods used to produce it. This is why they are committed to organic farming practices; our vines do not receive any synthetic herbicides or pesticides.
Grapes are harvested by hand, then pressed for 5 hours. The juice is then vinified with natural yeasts in 3 to 15-year-old barrels, and also in foudres and cement vats. Maturation lasts from 11 to 18 months depending on the cuvée. Their objective is to preserve the terroir and to manage the vineyard as naturally as possible.
Les "Hauts de Fuissé" comes from two vineyard plots, "Longs poils" and "Scélés", which are located in the village of Fuissé in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation.
The vines have been planted since the 1980s, well after the creation of the appellation in 1929, hence the classification as ''Mâcon''. The vines face due east on clay-limestone soils giving dense and complex wines.
