Grapes for this Dona Paula Estate Malbec were sourced from their two best vineyards located in the high Uco Valley. Finca Los Indios in Altamira (San Carlos) provides grapes with supple texture and deep red fruit flavors and The Finca Alluvia in Gualtallary (Tupungato) at over 4,400 feet of altitude provides grapes with firm structure, acidity and minerality. Drip irrigation is utilized in these arid high altitude settings which are sun-drenched but experience a wide temperature variation of almost 40 degrees F between day and night. At Dona Paula, vineyards have always been managed using sustainable agriculture practices. A two week cold soak extracts color, aromas and forward flavors. 10 months in French oak barrels adds a compelling complexity to this 100% Malbec.
James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Bright and fresh with very clean fruit in the form of light morello cherries, citrus and orange rind. Light to medium body, pretty acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now."
