About Easton 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Shenandoah Valley

A rare library find! Easton Shenandoah Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was made from grapes from 48-year-old vines from the Baldinelli Vineyard planted in iron-rich, granitic soils. 2013 was an outstanding vintage for California Cabs.

On release, Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "A rare library find! Easton Shenandoah Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was made from grapes from 48-year-old vines from the Baldinelli Vineyard planted in iron-rich, granitic soils. Most of the fruit was fermented in five ton, open topped fermenters, the rest in 10 ton closed topped fermenters with pumping-over. The wine is aged in 100% French Bordeaux barrels, 50% new, 50% in two-year-old barrels." Now that it has aged gently in the winery's cellar for almost a decade, it shows a broad array of rich flavors and supple, seductive texture that only bottle age can bring. Don't miss it!
