About Eyeris 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oculus Vyd., Oakville, Napa Valley
An incredible find! Eyeris wines are super premium Napa Valley wines from this family-owned winery. Production is extremely small from their own single vineyards, aged in carefully selected French oak barrels for the Allier, Nevers, Tronçais and Vosges forests in France.
This Napa Cabernet was harvested from their own tiny, Occulus vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley. Yields are kept very low and the grapes ripen to perfection in this sustainably farmed vineyard. The wine is slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks with a maceration up to 3 weeks. It's 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 24 months in French oak barrels.
This wine was awarded 97 points and a Double Gold Medal in the San Francisco International Wine Competition! And it's no surprise as this Cab is vibrant and expressive. Its layers of smoky cassis, pipe tobacco, and cedar are highlighted by a chorus of stewed black fruit and cocoa justifying the reputation that Napa enjoys for top-quality Cabernet Sauvignon. Extremely well balanced it's a wine that will stand up to long-term aging.
