About Fattoria del Cerro 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Silineo
Acquired in 1978, the Fattoria del Cerro estate was already an established part of the Montepulciano winemaking community and under the Baiocchi family, who founded the estate in 1922. This long-standing tradition allowed Fattoria del Cerro to play a major role in the renaissance this area experienced with the creation of the DOCG appellations in 1980.
Fattoria del Cerro emerged from this transitional period as one of the foremost producers of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Today the estate has 230 acres of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano vineyards and a state-of-the-art winery.
This wine is mainly Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese). Fermentation and maceration at controlled temperature (24°-28°C) with daily pumping over; after the racking, wine is transferred into big oak barrels where it will carry out the malolactic fermentation followed by a 18 months ageing.The tasting notes offer cherry and little red fruit at the nose. Elegant and bold at the palate with a long lasting finish. Roasted meat dishes and seasoned cheeses are the perfect matchings.
