About Faust 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Magnum 1.5L

Magnum 1.5L
From the makers of Quintessa Estate comes Faust Cabernet Sauvignon. This beautiful winery adjacent to the Silverado Trail south of St. Helena boasts Michel Rolland as its consulting winemaker and he is undeniably responsible for increased quality. For Faust premium grape lots are selected from estate vineyards in Coombsville and Rutherford and mountain sourcing in Atlas Peak, Mount Veeder and Howell Mountain. The grapes were hand-picked, double-sorted and crushed, then cold-soaked and fermented in both French oak and stainless steel tanks. After an extended maceration and malolactic fermentation in barrel, Faust was aged for 19 months in 100% French oak, 30% new.

The Wine Advocate scored this 92 points saying "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller portions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged for 19 months in 30% new French oak. The core of the fruit comes from the Coombsville estate blended with some mountain and valley floor fruit from elsewhere. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it offers a beautiful core of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries and lavender with nuances of cedar chest, pencil lead and camphor plus a waft of tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a nice, firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and well-played freshness delivering a long, vibrant finish."

Wine Spectator scored this 93 points saying "Lush and inviting, with cassis, creamed plum and boysenberry puree flavors gliding through on a very polished structure, while anise, mocha and tobacco accents check in on the finish. A seductive style. Drink now through 2028."

James Suckling scored this 94 points saying "This is firm and juicy yet generous and fruity at the same time. Has a plush and wild feel. Extremely savory. Flavorful finish. Drink now or hold."
