Ferrari-Carano purchased a unique vineyard property planted to Pinot Noir grapes on Mendocino Ridge above Anderson Valley. The vineyard, surrounded by towering redwoods and lush forest, sits high above the fog line at over 1,500-foot elevation on the cool, steep slopes of Mendocino Ridge. This delicious Ferrari-Carano Pinot Noir is sourced from there. The grapes were hand harvested and hand sorted in the field. The grapes are cold soaked for three days and fermented in small bins and stainless steel open-top fermenters. Various yeast strains are introduced to add complexity. The wine has aged for 10 months in 32% new French oak barrels before bottling.
This wine shows aromas of ripe cherry, cola, and toasty vanilla, followed by vibrant flavors of dried currant, black plum, raspberry, and cherry. It has a velvety texture and bright acidity. A note of maple brown sugar rounds out the soft lengthy finish.
