About Ferrari-Carano 2021 Fume Blanc, Sonoma County

One of the first two wines Ferrari-Carano ever made over 35 years ago. This year’s Fume Blanc is a blend of 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes from various appellations in Sonoma County—Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys.

When the grapes arrive at the winery, each lot is gently crushed and pressed into stainless steel tanks for 48 hours of cold settling. The juice is either transferred to stainless steel tanks or older French oak barrels for fermentation. The wine in barrels is sur lie aged and stirred every other week for two months, then blended and bottled. Overall the wine aged 70.6% stainless steel tanks, 29.4% older French oak barrels.

This wine has won numerous awards including  95 points Double Gold Medal in the North Coast Wine Challenge,  93 points Gold Medal in the Los Angeles Wine Competition, Gold Medal in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, 92 points and a Gold Medal in the Sunset Magazine Wine Competition, and 90 points from James Suckling who said "Aromas of grapefruit, white peach and rosemary. Medium-bodied. Bright acidity pairs well with the fresh fruit. Soft finish. Drink now.
