In 1989, Walt and Joan Flowers purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. Today, Flowers Winery produces outstanding Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge Vineyard and Sea View Ridge Vineyard, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA.
Grapes for this 2017 were farmed sustainably and fermented with 100% native yeast; a pure expression of the rugged and extreme Sonoma Coast. Aged 10 months in 20% new French oak barrels.
The Wine Spectator scored this 92 points saying "Big and rich, with flavors of plum tart, dried strawberry and red currant, supported by crunchy acidity. Cedar and hot stone notes emerge on the pure-tasting, minerally finish. Drink now through 2024."
James Suckling scored this 94 points saying "Beautiful dark berries with ripe strawberries and hints of decadence and richness. Some meat, too. Full-bodied, dense and rich with tight and linear tannins. Needs a year or two to soften. Better in 2022."
